How does this course work?

This is an on-demand, self-paced QuickBooks training course. What that means is when you sign up, you get immediate access to all of the training content. The course is composed of professionally-produced HD videos. You can go through the videos in the order they are presented or jump around to whatever topic you want or need. It is intentionally open-ended so that you can access what you need, when you need it.

Will this work with my version of QuickBooks?

If you are using a version of QuickBooks Pro, Premier, or Enterprise between 2014 and 2020, you will be all set. Each year when a new version is released, I go through my training and update it as needed. The core functionality of QuickBooks Desktop doesn’t really change from year to year, which is why you will benefit from my course whether you are using the 2014 version or the latest 2020 version.

For QuickBooks Online, I aim to keep my training up-to-date. Intuit released a big update to QBO recently, and I re-recorded almost the entire course so that it would show the latest and greatest version.

When and where is the course?

The course is entirely online and entirely self-paced. So, it starts when and where you want it to. As soon as you sign up, you get access to all of the course materials. You can access them from the comfort of your own office or home without needing to travel to a seminar space, and you have the luxury of going through the material at your own pace.

How long does it take to go through the course?

This course is designed to be entirely self-paced, so it’s a little hard to say. Some people might only watch a couple of modules and then watch the rest as-needed over the course of several months. I’ve tried to make the course as flexible and accessible as possible. It’s up to you!

The training package comes with training for both QB Desktop and QB Online. Each has videos totaling about 4-5 hours (so, 8-10 total between the two). If you’re only trying to learn one platform, it is reasonable to say people spend an average of around 10-15 hours on it. This would include re-watching some videos, practicing separately or following along and coming back to the videos, etc.

How much is the course? Are there any additional fees?

The course is just one up-front payment of $297. There are no additional fees or payments.

Note that this price is in USD, so if you are in Canada or another country with a different currency, you will want to check on the exchange rate before purchasing.

Can I get a Certificate of Completion?

Yes! At the end of the course, there is a test. When you pass the test with a score of 70% or better, I will issue your certificate of completion. This certificate proves that you went through a QuickBooks training course created by a licensed CPA and Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

Will this course work for me if I’m in Canada?

Absolutely. The QuickBooks software and accounting methods between the US and Canada are very similar, so my course is very relevant to both. Please just note that my course price is in USD, so you will want to estimate the conversion before purchasing.

Do I need QuickBooks installed to go through this course?

You don’t necessarily need QuickBooks on your computer to benefit from the course. Some people find it helpful to follow along as they go through the material, but it isn’t required.

Also, your access to the course materials doesn’t expire. So, when you get to the point where you’re actually working in QuickBooks, you can come back to the course as needed for reference.

If you do want access to the software but don’t want to pay for it up front (very common), Intuit actually provides 30-day trials of both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online, with no credit card required up front.

How do I access the training? Can I use it at home and at the office?

Right after making your payment, you will set up a Username and Password to access all the training material. You can then watch the videos directly on the website through the Course Dashboard, or you can download them for offline use.

Since the course content is all accessed online, you can login from any computer with an internet connection. The videos even work on many smartphones and tablets. It is very common for people to buy the course and use it at home and at the office.

What is the difference between QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop?

QuickBooks Desktop comes in Pro, Premier, and Enterprise versions and is updated each year. For example, many people are now using QuickBooks Premier 2018. It is installed on your computer (generally a Windows computer), so the user has to make sure they are backing up the file. It has the trademark “flowchart” style home page with different buttons to record types of transactions.

Then there is QuickBooks Online, which is web-based. Users pay a monthly subscription. They don’t have to worry about backing it up, and it is continuously updated. Since it’s web-based, you can access it from pretty much any computer with an internet connection. There is even a mobile app.

Intuit (the company that makes QuickBooks) is making a big push to QuickBooks Online, and it’s the version that I recommend to most businesses aside from more complex manufacturing businesses. This is because the Online version is still somewhat limited in its inventory capabilities.

My training package comes with training for both Desktop and Online. This is because many companies are moving from QB Desktop to QB Online, or many of my customers are bookkeepers and it makes sense for them to have access to training for both in case they serve clients on both platforms. I don’t want to make you have to buy two different training packages.

If I have a question about using QuickBooks as I go through the course, can I contact you?

Absolutely. If you are going through the course and have a question about something, you can always email me using the Chat feature in the bottom-right corner of my site or by emailing me at [email protected]. Please note that if you leave me a message in my Chat feature while I am offline, I will respond to it by email. I aim to provide a very high level of service, typically responding to customer messages within 1 business day.

I signed up but am having trouble logging in. Can you help?

Definitely. If you’ve forgotten your username or are having trouble resetting your password, simply send me a message and I am happy to help you get back into the course. Otherwise, you can login here:
